Toxic City was the nickname that locals used for my hometown, Texas City, Texas – a place known for noxious chemical plants and oil refineries. So when my brother decided to open a comic book shop, well, there was only one option for the name: Toxic City. My brothers and I grew up during the heyday of the Michael Keaton Batman movies – filled with toxic waste dumps and vats of bubbling green ooze. So we wanted to do something that reflected our childhood fascination with this version of Gotham; something that could go on the chest of a dark hero, or maybe even a villain.
